Yoga for Arthritis is a six week series class led by Elizabeth Rogers. This class is ongoing with rolling registration in six-week blocks.? Movement and Breathing sequences are designed to introduce you to the basics of yoga movement specific to the prevention and support of osteoarthritis. Research suggests that bones and intervertebral discs benefit most from dynamic, moderate, weight-bearing exercise (Smith and Boser, 2013) and that “frequent, gentle to moderate weight-bearing activity offers the greatest benefit to individuals with bone loss” (Chan, Anderson, and Lan, 2003 and Smith and Boser, 2013).? We will explore the dynamic yoga movements and breath-work that support the development of core stability, strengthen spinal muscles, promote balance, encourage the development of bone growth and restore movement in body and mind. We will work in a small group of six participants or less so that the conditions particular to each participant might be addressed. Class is held Sundays 12:15-1:15 p.m.? Space is limited.
